Elegant Organics

Elegant organics is a culmination of many years of turning and gardening.
These pieces are classical in design and organic in execution. I use
textures in my work that remind me of different barks, leaves, seedpods,
flowers, and other natural elements. What some people view as defects
in the wood, interest me the most. I find inspiration in the way the grain
swirls, feathers, or spalts. Bark inclusions and knots create pictures for
me and I try to include them in the design. I love the natural color of
wood and add wood tones only when I feel the piece should be shaded to
enhance the look I am after. I use flat or satin finishes because it is more
touchable. Please pick up the pieces and look with your hands as well as
your eyes.

Fantasy Turning Demonstration

Phil Colson, www.PhilColsonWoodturner.com, will be holding a Fantasy Turning Demonstration hosted by the Chattahoochee Woodturners on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Baxter's Belmont Shop in Gainesville, GA.  The afternoon demonstration will be from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  The fee for the demonstration is $25.00 payable to Chattahoochee Woodturners via Theron Rogers - 770.287.3480.  This demonstration is open to all area woodturners.

Following the afternoon demonstration Phil will also be conducting the regular Chattahoochee Woodturners meeting from 6:45 PM to 9:00 PM (come at 6:00 PM for sandwiches and fellowship).  Visitors are welcome.
